Abstract

|
Profession’s philosophy and occupational science(OS) calls for attention and acceptance of occupational therapy(
OT) profession in Korea. A train called philosophy of OT will take you to a stop named OS. OS has been emergent from philosophical reflection, especially cool-headed epistemology by world OT leaders with passionate hearts in late 20C. OS has born as a first basic science of OT focused on knowledge of occupation, and now has grown as a human science addressing more broad issues about occupational engagement. Korean OT need to be more self-confident to advocate for
our unique professionalism, justification and legitimacy. In order to do that, we need essential and core knowledge reflecting our philosophy clearly and coherently. In addition, our reasoning paradigm need to be examined within evidence-based practice frame. OS help OT profession to have essential and core knowledge reflecting our philosophy, more importantly in scientific, systematic and rich way. By employing contemporary and cutting edge knowledge that OS generate, we can make our current practice more autonomous and powerful, plus support our potential innovative roles hereafter as well.
